Devin J. White

The Plainfield Police Department released a statement on Monday that one of the victims in a dog attack on Saturday, February 8, Devin J. White has died from his injuries.

The Plainfield Police Department was originally called to the scene on Saturday a little after 9:00 p.m. to the reports of an out of control animal. The attack occurred on the second floor of the family’s home on the 22900 block of Judith Drive in a suburban area of Plainfield.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 4 people who had been injured by the dog. The police on the scene had been able to gain partial control of the dog.

The dog was a pit bull, which is often classified as an aggressive breed of dog. Unfortunately, due to the amount of aggressiveness that the dog was exhibiting they had no choice but to euthanize the dog at the scene.

All 4 individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. A 52-year-old woman, a 25-year-old woman, and a 19-year-old were all treated with minor injuries and released per the police reports.

25-year-old Devin J. White was then transferred to Loyola Hospital in Maywood due to the severity of his injuries. The majority of his injuries were sustained to his arms.

The family was shocked to find out about the dog attack stating that they had never had any issues out of the animal before. They said that there were always kids playing with the dog and they never had any problems out of it.

The initial investigation done by the police showed that the attack by the dog was unprovoked.

This incident is still being investigated by the Plainfield Police Department in conjunction with the Will County Animal Control.
