Elizabeth McMahon Causes Second Interstate 55 Accident Due to Slow Moving Traffic

Elizabeth McMahon

Only a couple hours after a double semi-truck accident on Interstate 55 in Worden, another accident was reported.

Traffic was moving slowly on the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near Exit 33 just outside of Worden due to an accident that had occurred earlier that morning. Illinois State Police were informed of the accident around 6:51 a.m.

A Union Pacific Railroad truck being driven by 48-year-old Brian Womack was in the right lane heading northbound on the interstate. Womack resides in House Springs, Missouri.

Coming up behind him was a Honda Pilot that was being driven by 33-year-old Elizabeth McMahon. McMahon hit the end of Womack’s truck and caused another accident in the right lane of Interstate 55.

McMahon is a resident of Hamel.

At the scene of the accident, the Illinois State Police had McMahon airlifted to a hospital in the area with injuries that were considered to not be life-threatening.

McMahon had a 1-year-old male infant as a passenger in her vehicle and although the child did not seem injured, police had him transported via ambulance to be checked out at the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Womack was accompanied by a passenger in his truck. Both people from the truck declined medical attention at the scene of the accident.

Due to the severity of the accident and the damage incurred, both vehicles had to be towed away from the scene.

There has been no other information released and the Illinois State Police have not stated if McMahon will receive a citation for the accident or not.
