Eric Marcrum Named as Fatal Victim of Auto-Motorcycle Crash East of Redmon

On Sunday, September 6th, the Edgar County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist killed in a collision east of Redmon, Illinois. Eric N. Marcrum, 32, of Hume, passed away from injuries sustained in the incident.

The Edgar County Sheriff’s Office said in the accident report that at about 8:16 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a call about a car and motorcycle collision at County Road 11 (Shiloh Road) and Illinois Route 133.

First responders arrived at the scene within minutes of the call. Medics rushed Marcrum to the emergency room of Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Witnesses informed the police that the victim rode a 1982 Honda Goldwing motorcycle. He failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of CR-11 and IR-133 and collided with a 2014 Mercedes Benz. The vehicle was eastbound on IR-133.

The collision force ejected Marcrum from his motorcycle, and the police said that he was not wearing a helmet. They added that the Mercedes occupants immediately provided aid to the victim and remained until the first responders arrived.

The sheriff’s office had the Redmon Fire Department’s assistance, Horizon Health Ambulance, and the Illinois State Police. The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing, and there’s no citation at this time.

Running a stop sign at an intersection is a traffic offense under the Illinois Vehicle Code. Offenders are liable to pay a fine and have a point attached to their driver’s license.
