Authorities said an Iowa man was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning near Fulton.
Justin Fritz, 30, of Clinton, Iowa, was transported to an area hospital after the rollover crash on Illinois 84, according to the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities said Fritz was driving south on Illinois 84 at about 3:45 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle went into a ditch and struck several trees near the roadway, deputies said.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where he was evaluated for possible injuries as a result of the wreck.
Fritz was the vehicle’s only occupant, according to authorities. Deputies said he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Fritz will receive a citation for improper driving on the shoulder, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release. It was not immediately clear whether any factors, such as speed or intoxication, are thought to have played a role in the incident.
Investigators were assisted at the scene by the Fulton Police Department, the Fulton Fire Department Fulton Ambulance and Midwest Collision, according to the release.
