Gary Brewster Suffers Serious Injuries in Single-Car Crash


Thirty-one-year-old Barry, Illinois resident Gary Brewster sustained serious injuries on Sunday when he was thrown from his car.

According to accident reports, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 9:07 p.m. on County Highway Four to the south of Barry.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department said Brewster was found on the western side of the road while his car was on the opposite side.

Brewster was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. No details have been released about his condition or the nature of his injuries.

It doesn’t appear than anyone else was involved in the accident.

Sheriff David Greenwood said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Barry Fire Department and Pike County EMS assisted at the scene, accident reports state.

A number of factors can lead to single-car crashes and sometimes, it can be difficult for investigators to find out exactly what happened.

In 93 of the fatalities, restraints were used while they were not used or used improperly in 83 cases.

Forty-three of the drivers didn’t have a valid license at the time of the crash.
