Jamin Perry Killed In Elmhurst Crash Involving 3 Semis

Authorities have identified the Minnesota man killed in a chain-reaction crash Sunday near Elmhurst that involved three semi-tractor trailers.

Jamin R. Perry, 39, of Brainerd, Minn., died as a result of injuries suffered in the fiery wreck, which was reported at about 11 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 290, according to the Illinois State Police. It is unclear from car accident reports whether anyone else was injured in the crash.

Troopers said Perry was driving his semi in the center-right lane of Interstate 290 near Elmhurst at about 11 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle. His truck crashed into another semi that was traveling in the same lane, and that semi then struck another, according to car accident reports.

Perry was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries, troopers said. However, he ultimately succumbed to his wounds, according to car accident reports.

Authorities identified the other drivers as Simon Karkusashvili, 53, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dhindsa Yadwinder-Simgh, 26, of Winnepeg, Manitoba. Car accident reports available Tuesday don’t say whether either driver suffered injuries that required hospitalize as a result of the crash.

Investigators worked at the scene of the fiery wreck for several hours, prompting an extended closure of the interstate. The Illinois State Police continues to investigate the incident, and they have not yet said whether they suspect factors like intoxication or excessive speed might have contributed to the crash.
