Joliet Authorities: Knayree Fateen, Nathaniel Argueta Charged With Robbery After Crash

A drug deal-turned-robbery eventually resulted in the arrest of two teens Friday night in Joliet after a multi-vehicle crash.

According to police, 18-year-olds Knayree Fateen, of Chicago, and Nathaniel A. Argueta, of Joliet, met a third person, whom police did not identify publicly, Friday night in Joliet to complete a drug deal. The two allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle, where Fateen pulled a gun.

The two were able to steal the victim’s wallet and phone, left the victim’s vehicle, got into their vehicle and drove off, according to investigators.

The victim initially ran off on foot, but returned to his vehicle and attempted to chase after Fateen and Argueta, authorities said. The pursuit continued until both vehicles crashed at the intersection of Morgan Street and South Raynor Avenue.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

Authorities arrived on scene at about 9 p.m. Friday and broke up a fight between the three. Fateen, Argueta and the victim were taken into custody while investigators attempted to determine what had transpired.

Argueta and Fateen ultimately were arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery and aggravated robbery, police reported. Investigators also said they found a BB gun near the crash site.

The Joliet Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
