Jorge Acosta-Flores and David Aguilar Die in Carol Stream Collision

Two Wheaton North High School students lost their lives to a car crash in Carol Stream, DuPage County, Illinois. On Saturday, June 13th, the Principal of the school, Matthew Biscan, made the teenagers’ death public in an email sent to the student body. In it, he identified them as Jorge Acosta-Flores and David Aguilar, both 17.

The victims were members of the wrestling team, the Falcons, and Biscan said that the two were excited to begin their senior year. The email did not contain how the students died, but a Friday, June 12th, accident report disclosed that Acosta-Flores and Aguilar passed away after striking a box truck.

The collision caused the blue Infiniti the teenagers were traveling in to catch fire, and the driver — who is not specified — died at the crash site. The passenger — also not specified — made it to an undisclosed hospital where medical personnel later pronounced him dead.

Biscan’s mail encouraged students to reach to counselors via email, phone, or video meetings as they deal with the loss. There is no additional information on the accident at this time.

Motor vehicle crashes claim the lives of teenagers in the United States regularly. The Center for Disease Control states that accidents are preventable if teen drivers follow the strategies put in place for their safety. Some of these strategies include letting young people know the causes of traffic collisions and the rules and regulations to obey at all times.
