Matthew McCuan Pronounced Dead in Brimfield Crash

In a single-vehicle accident that took place on Monday, March 2, one person lost his life. The victim of the fatal crash has been identified as Matthew McCuan, 18, of Peoria.

According to the details shared by the Peoria Police, the accident happened on the W. Southport Road. At around 1:50 p.m. the police were notified about a crash close to the 15000 block of the road. As the authorities reached the site of the crash, they found the vehicle in a field by the side of the road.

The crash had happened when the vehicle left the roadway for some reason. The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified woman from Peoria, then lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled several times by the side of the road and then came to a stop.

Matthew McCuan was the other occupant of the vehicle apart from the driver. McCuan sustained critical injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident. She was taken to the OSF St. Francis Medical Center where she received treatment. It is not known at this time whether she has been released from the medical facility.

Preliminary investigations show that the driver of the vehicle was to blame for the incident. The Peoria Police have already cited the driver for driving off the roadway and the failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
