A press release by the Riverside Police Department revealed that officers arrested a woman for driving under the influence and crashing her car in Riverside, Illinois, on Sunday, August 23rd. Roxanne M. White, 35, of Chicago, would need the representation of a drunk driving attorney.
In the release, the police stated that a male officer on a traffic stop heard what sounded like a crash on Harlem Avenue and went to investigate. As the lawman approached the source of the sound, a car driven by White sped past him, and he saw that it had front-end damage.
The officer pursued the suspect and stopped her shortly afterward. An inquiry uncovered that the vehicle struck the metal retaining bar that protects the gas pumps at the Amstar service station, 3416 S. Harlem.
The RPD said that the officer smelt a strong odor of alcohol on the woman, even though he wore an N95 face mask. The lawman asked the woman to do a roadside field sobriety test, which she failed. He placed the uninjured White under arrest and put her in the squad car.
The police said that the woman got sick in the squad car and they had to hire a professional cleaning service to clean it. The RPD plans to ask the court to attach the fees to any fine associated with the suspect’s conviction.
Once in custody, White declined a breath test, reportedly saying her lawyer asked her not to blow after her last DUI arrest. She is facing charges of driving under the influence, hit-and-run property damage, and several traffic violations.
