Yacoub Gadiaga Charged for Moline Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash


A man, identified as Yacoub Gadaga, faces charges stemming from a traffic collision that claimed one life in Moline, Illinois. The Moline Police Department publicly disclosed the man’s charges on Thursday, August 20th, in a press release.

Preliminary reports showed that Gadiaga struck and killed a 20-year-old man, Abrham Eneyew, on Wednesday morning, August 12th. The vehicle-pedestrian collision occurred in the 3600 block of Eastbound John Deere Road, where a police officer found the victim lying unconscious on the roadway at precisely 12:26 a.m.

Medics pronounced him deceased a short time later. Moline Police officers commenced an investigation into the death of the Eneyew. Five days later, they identified Gadiaga as the culprit, from the available evidence. They ultimately arrested him.

Investigators determined that the victim was crossing the eastbound John Deere Road when Gadiaga’s vehicle ran him over. The motorist pulled over, expecting to find an injured deer, but found nothing. The suspect then left the accident scene, unaware of the struck pedestrian.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Rock Island County Coroner’s Office aided in the investigations.In connection with the incident, Moline officers charged Gadiaga with leaving the scene of an accident and driving an uninsured vehicle. The State’s Attorney’s Office, who reviewed the case file, determined that probable cause existed for charges pertaining to the former.

The Illinois Law classifies, leaving the scene of an accident as a Class A misdemeanor, which may attract up to one year in jail. 24-month probation may also apply. If the collision results in serious injury or death of a victim, it attracts additional sentences which may be reviewed by an experienced auto accident attorney.
