Carl Tressler Killed In Single-Vehicle Hillsdale County Wreck

A Georgia man was killed Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Hillsdale County, according to authorities.

Carl Tressler, 77, of Woodbine, Ga., died from injuries sustained in the wreck, which occurred at about 6 p.m. Tuesday on Cranberry Lake Road, car accident reports from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department state. No other vehicles were involved in the incident and no additional injuries were reported.

Deputies said Tressler was driving his pickup south on Cranberry Lake Road near West Litchfield Road at about 6 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control of the vehicle. Tressler’s truck veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree in Litchfield Township, according to car accident reports.

The wounds Tressler suffered in the crash proved to be fatal, deputies said. It’s unclear whether Tressler had passengers in his vehicle, but no other injuries were reported.

The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident. Car accident reports released Wednesday include few details about what factors, such as speed or intoxication, that investigators believe might have contributed to the wreck.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the emergency responders from Litchfield Township and Reading, according to authorities.

Car accident reports with additional details likely will be forthcoming after authorities complete the investigation. Deputies did not say whether an autopsy has been ordered by the local medical examiner’s office.
