Janette Boggard Killed in Fatal Spring Arbor Accident

Janette Boggard, 81, of Jackson was killed in a fatal two-vehicle accident that took place in Spring Arbor, Michigan on Friday, February 21. The crash took place on the M-60.

According to the details shared by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies were notified of the accident at around 3:15 p.m. Janette Boggard was traveling eastbound on the M-60 when the accident happened. Another vehicle, driven by an 86-year-old woman, was traveling westbound on the road. The 86-year-old driver sought to take a turn and enter a parking lot. This was when her vehicle came into the path of Boggard’s car. This led to a collision which left both cars significantly damaged.

Both Boggard and the other driver were rushed to the Henry Ford Allegiance Health hospital for medical treatment. It was at the hospital that Boggard succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The other driver had also sustained critical injuries but has recovered since and is no longer in critical condition.

Following the crash, Sheriff’s deputies as well as other law enforcement agencies reached the site of the accident to investigate and clear up the scene. Agencies which partook in the effort include Michigan Department of Transportation, Spring Arbor Police, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office as well as the local fire departments.

In the wake of the crash, the law enforcement agencies shut down the M-60 briefly. The roadway was closed to traffic at about 3:50 p.m. and then reopened at around 5:45 p.m. The crash remains under investigation.
