Two men, Kenneth Kauffman and Clyde Alvis, both of Brandon Township, died in a head-on collision on M-15, Oakland, Michigan. Accident reports state that the crash happened on Tuesday, May 26, at about 12:20 p.m.
According to police reports, the 52-year-old Kauffman was on the wheels of a Chevrolet Equinox and heading south on M-15, close to Oak Hill Road. At the same time, the 71-year-old Alvis was traveling south in a Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
Kauffman crossed the centerline with his SUV going partially into the southbound lane. The Chevrolet struck the Ford, with the impact of the collision killing both men at the scene.
A preliminary investigation carried out by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office revealed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Investigators are still trying to determine what led Kauffman to cross the centerline of the road. No further information is available at this time.
