Marie Schaefer and Restrained Minor Survive Tragic Solo Vehicle Crash in Marquette

In recent reports of a car accident which occurred earlier this week, the Marquette County authorities established they did not record any casualty. The incident took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 12 in Marquette, Michigan.

In a news release, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said two people barely escaped unscathed after their vehicle encountered a rollover crash. The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m., on M-35 south of County Road 565 and involved a single car.

Officers affirmed that the driver of the car, identified as Marie Schaefer, 44, of Gwinn, was travelling through M-35, with a toddler in the backseat. Police said the vehicle spiralled out of control while heading south on the state route.

The out-of-control car then crossed the dividing line onto the north lanes, and towards the shoulder of the road where it struck a rock and flipped over. The vehicle eventually came to rest on its roof after plunging into a ditch.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash shortly after and found that neither Schaefer nor the tot sustained serious injuries. The car got severely dented in the wreck. Authorities said the minor in the rear seat was properly restrained when the crash happened.

The Michigan State Police, Richmond Township Fire and EMS, Antila’s Towing, Up Health System, Marquette EMS also responded at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
