Paul Bishop Killed In Lanawee County Motorcycle Wreck: Report

Authorities said a motorcyclist died in an early-morning crash Wednesday in Lanawee County, according to the Michigan State Police.

Paul Bishop, 51, of Onsted, died from injuries suffered in the crash, which occurred at about 1 a.m. Wednesday on Devils Lake Highway in Woodstock Township, authorities said. No other vehicles or other people were involved in the wreck.

Troopers said Bishop was driving south on the highway north of U.S. 223 on Wednesday when he lost control of his motorcycle. He crossed the center line and tried to brake, but his vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a levee, Michigan State Police reported.

Bishop was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s unclear what conditions led to Bishop losing control and crashing the motorcycle. Details released by the Michigan State Police didn’t reveal whether the investigation suggests other factors might have contributed to the wreck.

Bishop was not wearing a helmet at the time he crashed his Harley Davidson motorcycle, the Michigan State Police reported. The Lewanee County Medical Examiner’s Office and Addison Fire Department officials were called to the scene to assist after the incident.
