Police IDWoman Found Dead At Grand Rapids House Fire As Christina Field

The death of a woman in a house fire this week in Grand Rapids now is considered a homicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Christina M. Field, 49, of Grand Rapids, was found dead in the Grand Rapids Home, according to authorities. An autopsy was conducted by the Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office, but authorities did not divulge the official cause of Field’s death.

Authorities were called to the two-story Jennette Avenue home just after 6 a.m. Monday. The house reportedly was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.

Field was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. The cause of the fire has not been reported by authorities.

Field’s husband, 54-year-old Wyoming resident Steven S. Field, suffered serious injuries in the incident. Authorities said he was transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital where, as of early Tuesday, he was listed in critical condition.

The married couple were the only people in the home at the time of the blaze.

Details about what led investigators to deem Christina Field’s death a homicide weren’t released Tuesday. Police did tell local media outlets that they have been unable to interview Steven Fields due to the extent of his injuries.
