Steven Dean Spence Injured in Crash Caused by Medical Emergency


In a single-vehicle crash that took place on Thursday, April 23, in Hillsdale County, one man sustained injuries. Preliminary accident reports and investigations from the authorities now reveal that the accident was caused by a medical emergency.

According to the troopers with Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place early in the evening in Jefferson Township. Authorities were notified of the crash at around 4:00 p.m. The victim of the crash was identified as Steven Dean Spence, 42, of Osseo, Michigan.

Spence was traveling on the Osseo Road when he ran into an accident. Just as he drew close to the Beecher Road, Spence apparently lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then veered across the road and left the roadway on the opposite end of the road. It came to a stop after crashing head-on into a tree.

Spence sustained injuries in the single-vehicle crash. As the crash was reported and first responders arrived on the site of the incident, he was transported to the Hillsdale Health Center to receive medical treatment. The nature and extent of his injuries is not known at this time. Accident reports from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office reveal that Spence was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Preliminary investigations have also revealed that Spence suffered a medical emergency just before the crash which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
