Four people died in a brutal car accident on U.S. Highway 53 in Elko on Saturday. The names of the victims are Michael R. Crispin, 60, and Gwendolyn Crispin, 61 of Meridian, Idaho. There were two more people in the second vehicle, who passed away as well: Oregon couple Edgar J. Morales Contreras, 24; and Efrain Madera Tadeo, 26.
Authorities pronounced all 4 victims dead on the scene. The vehicles collided head-on as they were traveling on US93 around 25 miles south of Wells. One of the vehicles tried to pass illegally in a double yellow no-passing zone. It has not been reported which party was at fault at this time. What we do know is that all four people died on the spot.
After the crash, the highway was closed for several hours for cleanup. According to a coroner from Elko County, the Oregon couple hit Michael and Gwendolyn Crispin’s vehicle. It was their vehicle that was driving on the wrong side of the road of U.S. 93. This information is not official.
Nevada Highway Patrol says police think the Oregon couple, who were driving from Las Vegas, were speeding and passing the Crispins.
