Las Vegas Police Release Details of Hit-and-Run Accident Involving Tyrara Joseph

On Thursday, July 2nd, the Metropolitan Police Department released details of a hit-and-run accident in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the MPD, Tyrara Joseph, struck a pedestrian and fled the scene of the accident on Tuesday, June 23rd.

The police said they received a call about the crash at about 4:15 a.m. and dispatched officers to 1729 E. Charleston Boulevard. On getting to the scene, they discovered that a car drove up the sidewalk, and pinned a homeless woman to a brick wall, before backing out and driving off.

The officers used witness statements and surveillance video from a business in the area to identify Joseph as the hit-and-run driver. They found her at a parking lot half-a-mile from the crash site trying to change her clothes a short while after. The woman admitted to the arresting Officer Hartner that she smoked marijuana before driving.

The suspect also said that she did not mean to run over the victim, who died from the injuries sustained. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will reveal the woman’s identity pending notification of her next-of-kin. The MPD booked Joseph into the Clark County Detention Center without bail.

They charged her with driving under the influence of a controlled substance resulting in death, failure to render aid at a vehicular accident, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. The suspect would appear in court on Thursday, July 9th, and she would need the expertise of a top accident lawyer.
