A nine-year-old girl died on Saturday after suffering injuries in a car crash in Northeast Austin last month. Austic police revealed details of the accident report on Tuesday.
The deceased is Daminik Lopez.
Around 9 p.m. on March 30, police responded to the 5500 block of East Parmer Lane after reports of a traffic crash.
Investigations revealed that an unnamed female driver was going south on Parmer in a Hummer. She reportedly failed to yield to a Mercedes-Benz that was driven by 34-year-old Cain Perez Estrada.
Police said Estrada’s vehicle hit the passenger side of the Hummer in which two
children were passengers.
The children were taken to Dell Children’s
Medical Center of Central Texas after the crash for medical treatment.
The authorities said one of them, Daminik Lopez, succumbed to her injuries on
Saturday.
The other child suffered critical injuries and underwent emergency surgery. No update was provided on that child’s condition on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Estrada was transported to hospital and treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and police believe impairment played a role in the accident.
The police accident report did not provide any information
on the condition of the driver of the Hummer.
Anyone with information about this accident should call the Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-8544.
The authorities in Austin say 25 people have died in road accidents for the year so far. This is an increase over the number of fatalities recorded in 2019. At this point last year, there were 17 road deaths. Relatives of victims often seek the services of a Texas car accident lawyer.
