A 47-year-old Mount Calm man was killed in an early morning accident on Saturday.

He has been identified as Arturo Gonzalez-Medina.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash around 5:40 a.m. on IH-35 southbound in the area of mile marker 325, which is to the south of Waco.

Officials say a Peterbilt tractor semi-trailer crashed into the back of a Honda passenger car that was parked in the center lane following a previous crash.

DPS said the Peterbilt overturned after crashing into the Honda driven by Arturo Gonzalez-Medina. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. His next of kin was notified.

No other injuries were reported in the accident.

DPS reminded drivers about how to prevent secondary crashes.

If a driver gets involved in a crash and no one is hurt, the driver doesn’t have to wait until the police arrive before moving the vehicle. If the vehicle can be driven, the driver should move it out of the flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, officials in Burleson County are investigating the death of a Somerville woman who was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Saturday night.

Dispatchers with DPS said troopers were dispatched to a location along Park Road 57 which is eight miles southeast of Somerville’s city limits.

There, they found 55-year-old Somerville resident Sondra Sebastian. She was the only person in the vehicle and dispatchers said she was not wearing her seat belt.

No details were revealed about what caused her to crash.
