Brianna Surrento Killed After Striking Cow


The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the woman who was killed in a crash in Gaines County on Monday night.

She is popular softball player and coach 22-year-old Brianna Surrento of Long Beach, Mississippi.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 180, 17 miles away from Seminole.

Troopers were called to the scene around 8:52 p.m.

When they arrived, they found an accident involving a Mazda 3. The victim died at the scene.

Investigations revealed that Brianna Surrento was driving east on the highway when her car hit a cow that had strayed onto the roadway

Surrento was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.

The young woman was a former softball player at Lander University.

The school’s athletic department and the softball team said they were deeply saddened by her passing. In a statement, the department also conveyed its sympathy to the entire Surrento family at this tragic time.

Surrento was a player on the Lander softball team from 2017 to 2019. She transferred to Lander from Chipola College after freshman year.

After she spent three seasons at Lander, Surrento played and coached in the World Baseball Softball Confederation.

She then joined the coaching staff at the University of the Southwest and served as a graduate assistant.

Surrento was remembered in many online tributes. People remembered her for her talent, her determination and her big personality.
