Bryanika Cantu Arrested After Argument with Boyfriend Leads to Serious Crash


A woman from Rio Grande City is now facing charges after she allegedly caused her boyfriend to crash his car following an argument.

She is Bryanika Cantu.

Rio Grande City police said they responded to a major crash at the junction of Trophy and Brand Street just after 11 p.m. on Sunday.

According to officials, the unnamed victim told them that he had been involved in an argument with Cantu.

According to a police release, the man went looking for Cantu at a friend’s house and he saw her car before he arrived at the residence.

He got out of his car and approached her, and an argument started.

At some point, the two parties drove off separately.

The victim reported that he saw Cantu following him at a high speed and she subsequently hit the bumper of his vehicle. This reportedly caused him to lose control and end up in an open field.

Officials said there was damage to the rear of the victim’s vehicle. There was no information on whether he suffered any injuries.

Police arrested Cantu and charged her with aggravated assault date/ family/ house with a weapon and resisting arrest.

In Texas, a person is guilty of aggravated assault if they commit an assault that causes serious bodily injury to another or use or exhibit a deadly weapon while committing the assault.

It is a second-degree felony in most cases but can also be a felony of the first degree.
