Dietrich Hart Killed in Tyler County Crash That Left Robert Hadnot In Critical Condition

One person died, and another left with serious injuries following an early morning rollover crash in Tyler County, Texas. Police recorded the tragic occurrence just before dawn on Wednesday, May 20, as per the accident reports.

The Texas Department of Public Safety deployed troopers to Farm to Market Road 256 at about 5 a.m., after witnesses called in a solo vehicle crash. It happened at a location about 5 miles east of Colmesneil.

Preliminary investigations revealed the vehicle involved was a 2008 Ford Focus, driven by Robert Hadnot, 51. The Ford was traveling through the west traffic lanes of the road 256, with a 55-year-old Lufkin resident as its sole passenger.  For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved off the highway, flipping over multiple times before coming to rest, ejecting the passenger in the process.

The driver, who police said was using a seatbelt at the time, remained in the vehicle. The Lufkin local, Dietrich Hart, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, causing him to be expelled. Both men suffered severe injuries in the traffic wreck.

Paramedics responding at the scene transported the victims to Tyler County Hospital, Woodville, where Hart eventually succumbed to his injuries. Hadnot remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.

The accident reports failed to disclose whether drugs, alcohol, or speed played a role in the fatal crash.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the DPS.
