Erick Eduardo Casas Identified as Impaired Driver Who Killed 19-Year-Old Woman

The San Antonio Police Department released the name of 28-year-old Erick Eduardo Casas as the driver of the truck that was involved in an accident on Monday, February 17, that killed a 19-year-old woman.

The accident occurred on the West Side of San Antonio after Casas ran through a red light and crashed into the vehicle of the 19-year-old woman. Her identity is currently being withheld until notification to the next of kin has been completed.

The woman was driving westbound through the intersection of Micron Drive and Culebra Road in a silver Subaru Forester shortly after midnight when the accident happened.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, Casas T-boned the woman’s car on the driver’s side.

The woman was taken from the scene of the accident to University Hospital. Her injuries were so severe that she eventually died after getting to the hospital.

Casas was not injured in the accident. Upon investigation, the San Antonio Police Department concluded that Casas was intoxicated at the scene of the accident.

He was taken into custody from the accident scene and arrested. He is currently facing charges of intoxication manslaughter for the death of the 19-year-old woman.

Intoxication manslaughter convictions are a second-degree felony and carry imprisonment terms of two to 20 years.

There has not been any information released about how high Casas blood alcohol content was at the scene of the accident, nor have they released if this is his first DUI type of charge.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Once the next of kin is notified updates with the victim’s name will become available.
