A bicycle accident attorney would be needed after a man riding his bicycle along the roadway was tragically struck by a passing vehicle on Alameda Avenue in the El Paso area of Texas. The almost fatal occurrence took place on the evening of Tuesday, April 21.
According to the reports provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 38-year-old bicyclist was struck by a Toyota Corolla at about 7 pm near Chico’s tacos restaurant.
Officers deployed to the scene around the time found the cyclist, identified as Joseph Cruz, 38, lying unresponsive on the roadway, plagued with multiple severe injuries, alongside the wreck of his motorcycle.
Upon investigation, it was gathered that the injured man was traveling east on Alameda on the bike, at the same time as the motorist operating the Toyota.
Just as the vehicle attempted a South turn onto Washington Street, off the Chico Taco Restaurant, it collided with the cyclist, knocking him to the ground.
First responders transported the injured cyclist to University Medical Center, El Paso, where he remains in critical condition, battling for his life.
The driver, whose identity was released as 27-year-old Narell Rosales, waited at the scene and cooperated with the police. The reports did not confirm whether impairment was suspected in the traffic collision, or whether or not Rosales would be charged with any traffic-related offense.
The accident is still under investigation.
Victims of bicycle-related traffic accidents are advised to contact a bicycle accident attorney as soon as possible, to ensure they are duly compensated.
