A prominent pastor at a Longview-based Baptist church died Thursday afternoon as a result of a single-vehicle crash, according to officials from his home church.
The Rev. Glynn Stone died after the crash, which was reported by the Longview Fire Department shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday at Loop 281 and Alpine Road. It’s unclear whether anyone else was injured in the incident.
Authorities as of Thursday evening had released few details about the incident. However, officials from Longview’s Mobberly Baptist Church, at which Stone served as senior pastor, posted more information on the organization’s website.
“It is with great sadness that we share that Pastor Glynn Stone died (Thursday) in a one-vehicle automobile crash,” officials from the church wrote in the statement. “We know this news is shocking and hard to understand. Processing this information is likely confusing and painful, and we would be remiss to ignore the fact that there is a plethora of emotions among you.”
According to the church website, Stone has been a resident of Longview since 2007. Stone, who was a married father of three boys, also has been a teacher at various seminaries and bible colleges.
“First, please pray for Pastor (Stone’s) wife, Angie, and their three children as they grieve this sudden loss,” church officials wrote in the statement. “Second, pray for our church leadership and members as we process the difficult news.”
