A memorial was set to be held on Saturday for the Houston woman who was killed in a crash last month.
According to accident reports, 29-year-old Chasonique Evonne Richardson was killed on April 29. The vehicle in which she a passenger was struck by a speeding motorcycle.
Richardson was in a BMW traveling along Farm-to-Market 528 at Bay Park Drive around 8 p.m. A Yamaha motorcycle driven by 24-year-old Jacob Andrew Raziano struck the front passenger side.
The Friendswood Police Department said the BMW was going west and crossing into the eastbound lanes to make a left turn when it was struck.
First responders removed Richardson from the vehicle and tried to save her life, but she died at the scene.
Raziano also died in the crash. However, the driver of the BMW, 66-year-old Leon Shaprio received only minor injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
Richardson’s memorial service was scheduled for True Unveiling Christian Center where she served as an usher.
Police said an autopsy would be conducted to determine whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
Investigators would also consider whether speed played a role.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 29 percent of all motor vehicle accidents are caused by speeding drivers.
High speeds cause crashes and increase the probability that someone will die. Even when a driver is driving within the speed limit, they may be driving too fast for the road conditions or weather.
