Patricia Blue Gilbert Killed in Fort Worth Hit-and-Run Accident

A 61-year-one woman died after a vehicle struck her in Fort Worth on Sunday. The driver of a sedan fled the scene without stopping. In cases like these, families often seek the services of a car accident lawyer.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Patricia Blue Gilbert, a resident of the city. She was a pedestrian at the time of the accident.

Police said the accident occurred in the 2600 block of Walton Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

Emergency responders took Gilbert to a hospital in the area. However, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The authorities did not reveal any further details about the crash such as the make and model of the vehicle. However, the crash remains under investigation.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime in Texas as it is in many other states. However, around 11 percent of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver.

Motorists usually flee the scene because they are impaired by drugs or alcohol or unlicensed or uninsured. Some return to the crash scene or turn themselves in to police but others have to be tracked down by law enforcement.

According to statistics from the Texas Department of Transportation, around 3,700 people die in traffic accidents across the state annually. Over 600 of these victims are pedestrians.

When individuals are fatally injured in vehicular accidents, they leave devastated families behind. They are rocked by unexpected emotional and financial losses. In an effort to get compensation from the at-fault driver, many a survivor turns to a car accident lawyer.
