Randall Noe Identified as DPS Trooper Struck by Vehicle During Lufkin Traffic Stop

Randall Noe

Authorities have released the name of the trooper who suffered injuries last weekend after a passing car struck him at a checkpoint in Lufkin, Texas. Accident reports provided by the Texas Department of Traffic Safety, on Monday, May 11, named the injured victim as Randall Noe, 45, of Lufkin.

The DPS reported that Trooper Noe got hit by a Chevrolet pickup truck at precisely 8:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 9. Noe was the only casualty recorded in the encounter on State Highway 94 in Angelina County.

The initial reports showed that the officer was standing near his vehicle on 94, conducting a traffic stop when the pickup approached him. Police said the driver of the truck tried to make the car slow down upon sighting the officer. But the pickup struck the trooper before it eventually halted.

Authorities identified the motorist as Dale Levy Jr., a 51-year-old resident of Lufkin. The officer suffered only non-life threatening injuries, the DPS confirmed. They transported Randall Noe to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital, Lufkin, for treatment, and he left the hospital soon after.

Meanwhile, Levy did not suffer injuries in the crash. The accident reports failed to disclose whether the motorist got detained, or charged with any traffic offense. Officers have not released additional details regarding the incident.

All road users on foot should keep a safe distance from busy traffic lanes, especially at night when the lighting may be inadequate. In addition, motorists should always strive to pay attention to their surroundings. That way, they can easily detect obstacles on roadways soon enough to avoid a crash.
