Jesus Martinez Faces DUI Charges After Injuring 7-Year-Old in San Angelo Traffic Crash

The expertise of a drunk driving attorney would be useful following the arrest of an alleged DUI motorist who struck and injured a minor in San Angelo, Texas. The tragic auto bicycle collision took place on Wednesday evening, May 20.

Reporting the traffic wreck, the San Angelo Police said a moving vehicle struck a seven-year-old boy on College Hills Boulevard. Witnesses notified the department about the almost fatal incident shortly after 5 p.m., prompting their response.

Preliminary reports showed the minor was riding a bicycle across College Hills Boulevard at W Avenue. N when it happened. A Chevy Suburban, driven by 25-year-old Jesus Martinez, ran over the young cyclist, police said. The boy suffered severe injuries in the collision.

Emergency responders transported the boy to a hospital for treatment of injuries, which medical personnel described as incapacitating. Upon their arrival at the health facility, hospital staff opted to airlift the injured victim to another hospital for specialized treatment. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions at the time, they canceled the flight and continued treatment on the lad, who remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Martinez stayed at the scene until law enforcement arrived. Investigators determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance and took him into custody on a charge of intoxication assault.

A passenger in the Subaru, identified as Devante Carson, had marijuana in his possession. Deputies charged him with possession of marijuana and detained him.

Officers are on the lookout for surveillance videos of the incident and asked anyone with a surveillance camera installed in the area to contact dispatch.

It is advisable for motorists facing DUI charges to contact a drunk driving attorney for counsel and representation.
