Ryszard Kluz Killed In Single-Vehicle Wreck In Chicago

Authorities have identified the man killed late Wednesday night in a single-vehicle crash in Chicago.

Ryszard Kluz, 63, of Schaumburg, was pronounced dead at an area hospital shortly after the crash, which was reported at about 11 p.m. on West LaSalle Drive, according to information released by the Chicago Police Department. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck and no other injuries were listed on car accident reports.

Police said Kluz was driving south in the 10 block of West LaSalle Drive at about 11 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his vehicle. The car went off the roadway and slammed into a tree, according to car accident reports.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene. Authorities said Kluz was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly before midnight, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

Kluz was alone in his vehicle at the time of the wreck, according to car accident reports. It is unclear whether factors like intoxication, speed or inattentive driving are thought to have contributed to the crash.

The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate all aspects of the incident, including what might have caused Kluz to lose control of his vehicle prior to the wreck. Additional details likely will be included in upcoming car accident reports, most of which will be entered into the public record.
