A motorist was discovered injured after being trapped in his vehicle for hours following a traffic crash on FM 2246 in Evadale, Texas. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon, April 24, as stated in the accident reports.
Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the location upon reports of a log truck driver pinned in his wrecked vehicle near Highway 62 in East Evadale.
Investigators determined that the driver crashed his vehicle, a 2002 Western Star truck tractor, which was reportedly hauling timber while traveling through the east traffic lanes of 2246 at around 1 pm.
The vehicle was attempting a right turn on the state highway at a high rate of speed, and that caused the truck to overturn, leaving the motorist trapped inside. No other occupant was present in the hauling truck at the time of the crash.
The driver, identified as Thomas Wallace, 52, of Broaddus, remained in the wrecked 18-wheeler for hours until he was rescued by fire department personnel.
Officers said they found the crash victim responsive. Wallace suffered only minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Speed was cited as a factor in the traffic collision. Impairment did not appear to have contributed to the solo-vehicle wreck. No other information regarding the crash was released in the accident reports.
Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic safety regulations at all times. Also, sticking to the permissible speed limit on a particular roadway would prevent the occurrence of such incidents.
