A traffic encounter between a truck and a bus earlier this week resulted in the death of a teenage boy in Crosby County, Texas. Auto accident attorneys may argue that the teenager holds the greater liability for the accident, which occurred on Monday, April 20, as he reportedly ran a red light.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the incident, saying it involved a Dodge pickup and a greyhound bus which collided at about 10:pm, near the cemetery of Ralls.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the pickup, driven by the fatal victim, was traveling through the south traffic lanes on US Highway 62 when it approached an intersection. At the same time, a greyhound bus, conveying 17 occupants, was westbound on US Highway 82, also approaching the intersection.
The reports indicated that the teenager failed to yield the right of way to the bus and crossed the intersection unlawfully, causing the bus to crash into the driver’s side door of the Dodge pickup. The truck was severely dented in the collision.
Emergency responders pronounced the operator of the truck dead at the scene. Authorities identified the teenage motorist as Ryan Soliz, a 16-year-old Ralls resident.
Meanwhile, neither the driver, whose name was disclosed as Jerry Henson, 66, of Lancaster nor the 16 passengers in the greyhound bus, was harmed in the fatal collision.
The DPS continues to investigate the fatal crash which killed Soliz.
Victims of traffic crashes are advised to get in touch with a legal expert as soon as possible. Auto accident attorneys are the best bet when it comes to dealing with such situations, and securing a favorable outcome.
