Officials in Beeville County have identified the woman who was killed in a crash on Highway 181 on Saturday night. She is 25-year-old Victoria Lyssy of Tuleta, according to Texas accident reports.
Lyssy was traveling in a Chevy Traverse with two boys, ages one and three. They sustained injuries that were not deemed life-threatening.
The accident happened around 8:35 p.m. on a wet road.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling south on US 181. It was pulling a trailer. Lyssy was heading north at the same time.
Officials said the Dodge hydroplaned and veered into the oncoming lane where it struck the Chevy.
Lyssy was pronounced dead at the scene while the children and the driver of the Dodge were taken to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital – Beeville.
The Dodge’s driver was not named by the authorities. No one has been charged in connection with the accident. However, if more information is revealed, it will be published in subsequent accident reports.
Lyssy’s family has the right to reach out to a car accident lawyer to determine if there is any way in which they can get compensation.
Hydroplaning occurs when a tire goes through more water than it is able to push away.
The pressure at the front of the wheel pushes the water under the tire and the tires to lose traction. The driver loses control of the braking or steering.
Hydroplaning is more likely to occur within the first ten minutes of a light rain shower.
