Ambulance Hits Camry in Naperville

An ambulance, owned by the Aurora Fire Department, collided with a black 1998 Toyota Camry in Naperville early Tuesday morning.

The Naperville Police Department reports that the crash happened at approximately 3:30 a.m., at the corner of Ogden and Aurora Avenues. The ambulance, Aurora Fire Department Paramedic Unit 8, appears to have been travelling west on Aurora Avenue, and the Camry travelling north on Ogden Avenue, when the collision occurred.

Fortunately, there were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the collision. However, two Aurora Fire Department personnel were transported to Edwards Hospital after being injured in the crash, along with the 52-year-old female driver of the Camry. The two Fire Department personnel have since been released, but the condition of the woman is still unknown.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. However, surveillance footage from both a nearby Mobil station and Buick dealership appears to show the ambulance running a red light on Aurora Avenue before striking the Camry.

Four cars in the Buick dealership lot were also damaged in the collision.
