A 67-year-old woman was killed on Thursday afternoon after she was involved in a head-on collision in north Macon. She has been identified as Delores Austin.

A press release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the accident took place shortly before 4 p.m. at the junction of Wimbish Road and Blanton Boulevard.

Austin was reportedly driving east on Wimbish Road in a GMC Terrain when she went over the center line and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 57-year-old Thomas Marshall of Gray.

Both of the vehicles ran off the road and ended up in a ditch.

Austin was transported to the Medical Center, Navicent Health and she was pronounced dead by the staff there. Investigators were told that she had a medical issue that caused her to lose control of her car.

Marshall did not suffer any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
