A man was injured in an accident that took place on Saturday, February 22. The accident took place in the Fayette County.
According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, Josh Ledbetter, 20, of Effingham was driving southbound on the IL Route 128 when the incident took place. Ledbetter was just north of the Fayette County Road when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and then swerved towards the gravel shoulder.
However, the car still remained out of Ledbetter’s control largely because of the speed at which it was traveling. It went on to enter a ditch, hit a culvert and then briefly become airborne. Once it landed, the car overturned and caught fire. Ledbetter was in the car at the time the collision took place. However, once the car came to a halt, he was able to escape the vehicle.
Josh Ledbetter was fortunate to escape the incident with no critical injuries. In the wake of the crash, he was rushed to the St. Anthony Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
According to the police, the incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, at around 2:25 a.m. Preliminary investigations by the police reveal that Ledbetter was to blame for the accident. A number of charges have been brought against Ledbetter by the police. These include driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI Alcohol), improper lane usage and the inability to reduce speed and prevent a crash.
