Genesis Lugo Turns Herself in for East Cobb Crash that Killed Cameron Clason

A woman walked into the police station in East Cobb, Georgia, and turned herself in for last month’s fatal vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash. Genesis Lugo, 21, surrendered on the morning of Wednesday. March 4th.

The police arrested her, and the young woman is facing a charge of failure to yield and second-degree vehicular manslaughter for the death of Cameron S. Clason, 18. Lugo’s tale of woe began on February 24th.

On that day, Clason was riding a black 2009 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle, heading west on Alabama Road when the young woman driving a 2001 Nissan Altima struck him. She was turning left on Old Mountain Park Road when the accident happened.

The teenager was taken to the North Fulton Hospital, where he later died from his wounds. Clason was a senior at River Ridge High School, and friends and family have raised $10 000 through a GoFundMe account for his funeral expenses.

Lugo, on the other hand, had no injuries and fled from the scene. The police were unable to locate her despite asking the public for help until she surrendered.

The police have not stated whether or not Lugo will get released on bail. The state of Georgia frowns against drivers fleeing the scene of an accident, especially when there’s an injury or death.

The law provides that anyone in an accident should stay behind and give his or her name, contact details and driver’s license information. The person should render anyone with injuries, reasonable assistance and contact emergency services and law enforcement officers immediately.
