The police in Cobb County, Georgia, on Sunday, March 8th, identified the man who died in a vehicle-versus-motorcycle accident on Barrett Parkway. John Franklin White, 43, was pronounced dead after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car driven by Clintina Mitchell, 57.

Wayne Delk, the Cobb County Police Spokeswoman, said in a press release that the accident happened at about 3:20 p.m., precisely in the area of Barrett Parkway and Rocky Ridge Road. The preliminary investigation uncovered that White was driving a 2016 BMW motorcycle.

The deceased was heading north on Barrett when it collided with Mitchell’s Toyota Avalon that was about to turn on Rocky Ridge Road. The man was rushed to Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

White was unscathed from the crash, and the police have ruled out impairment on her part. So far, the driver has not been charged, and Delk stated that the police’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Team Unit is heading the investigation into the accident.

The police have asked anyone with helpful information on the collision to contact the police station through its listed landline. Vehicle-versus-motorcycle accidents have a low fatality rate in Georgia.

The last few years have seen the rate of fatalities drop by 25.9%. A lot of things contribute to a rider dying in a motorcycle accident, but top of the list is the motorcyclist not wearing a helmet.

Georgia law provides that all motorcycle riders have a helmet on when riding. It saves about 37% lives, and prevents 67% brain injuries.
