Accidents are a daily occurrence in Georgia, and they are caused by the actions or inaction of drivers. One common cause of a vehicle crash is distracted driving, resulting from people texting or calling while behind the wheel.
Studies have shown that it only takes 3 seconds after a driver gets distracted for an accident to occur. Texting while behind the wheel increases the chances of a car accident by 23 times. Every day, at about nine people, are killed and more than a thousand injured in crashes caused by distracted driving. The highest age group affected are young people from 16 to 20 years, and authorities have advised that drivers keep their eyes on the road at all times.
