Joshua Crumby Arrested After Crashing Into Building While Fleeing Police in Thomasville

Joshua Crumby

A man who ran a red light and had patrol officers on his trail was arrested at midnight on Sunday, May 3rd, after crashing into a building during his flight. The encounter took place in the Thomasville area of Thomas County, Georgia, as stated in the accident reports.

Confirming the incident, the Georgia State Patrol said that the ordeal began when a Thomasville Post 12 GSP trooper, whose name was disclosed as Stephen Kornegay, spotted a vehicle moving erratically along the highway.

The trooper attempted to flag down the reckless motorist after he allegedly jumped a red signal on the traffic light at the intersection of Fletcher and Lester streets. The suspect, however, failed to oblige the officer, picking up speed instead, towards Magnolia Street.

After crossing several blocks, the fleeing motorist, identified as Joshua Crumby, 29, eventually smashed his vehicle into a house in the area of Magnolia and Fern streets. Police said Crumby abandoned the disabled vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but the trooper caught up with him.

When officers searched the suspect’s car, they found a large amount of marijuana, which qualifies it as a felony possession, the accident reports affirmed. Joshua Crumby, who was not seriously injured in the crash, was arrested on charges of felony marijuana possession, felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement, as well as multiple traffic offenses.

Authorities advised lawbreakers to desist from fleeing police when accosted as that in itself attracts a prison sentence.
