Austin Caldwell Killed in Norcross Motorcycle Crash

A motorcycle accident attorney would come in handy after a motorcycle rider died in a traffic encounter with two other vehicles in unincorporated Norcross, Georgia. The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, May 6.

According to the Gwinnett County Police, the motorcycle crash also involved a car and a U.S postal truck at the intersection of Lilburn Road and Oakbrook Parkway. Police said they got reports of the crash just after 5 p.m.

Investigators determined that the fatal victim, identified as Austin Caldwell, 24, of Cumming, was westbound on Oakbrook Parkway in a motorcycle. The rider was approaching one of the left turn lanes onto Indian Trail Lilburn Road.

Just as Caldwell negotiated the turn, he drifted suddenly into the adjacent lane, where a Toyota Camry was attempting a left turn onto Indian Trail from Oakbrook. Police said the Toyota was coming from the other left-turn lane, which the reports tagged as the right-left turn lane.

After the impact, the motorcycle skidded forward across the road until it smashed into another vehicle, a U.S Postal Service truck. The truck was at the time, parked on the opposite side of Oakbrook, facing west.

This second collision expelled Caldwell from his motorbike, causing him critical injuries as a result. First responders transported the injured man to an area hospital, where he later passed away from his wounds.

Officers failed to disclose the identities of the two motorists involved in the incident, which remains under investigation. The reports confirmed that investigators had considered speed as a factor.

A motorcycle accident attorney can help review all available evidence, and if Caldwell is not found liable, his family could file a lawsuit for wrongful death.
