Yavapai County authorities said a Chino Valley man is wanted for questioning in connection to a May 5 wreck near Paulden in which a 16-year-old girl was injured.

Grant Prevatt, 23, is wanted by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department on potential charges of criminal damage, three counts of endangerment, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an injury accident, a press release stated. He also is wanted by the Arizona Department of Corrections on warrants alleging parole violations.

A car injury attorney likely will be consulted to aid in Prevatt’s defense, should charges be brought against him.

Deputies said Prevatt was driving a pickup truck on North Mitchell Lane in Paulden at about 2 a.m. May 5 with four passengers, three of whom were teenage girls. At some point he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over.

According to a press release issued over the weekend, Prevatt then kicked out the truck’s windshield and fled the scene, telling the passengers he was a felon “and needed to run away.”

The girls, none of whom were identified in the press release, were picked up by a person described by deputies as a “good Samaritan.” They were transported to their vehicle and they contacted authorities.

Deputies said a 16-year-old girl was found bleeding and “possibly having a seizure” when emergency medical personnel. Authorities said they eventually located the crash site, where they spoke with Prevatt’s adult male passenger, who also was not identified publicly, who named Prevatt as the driver.

Anyone with information about Prevatt’s whereabouts is asked to contact Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232. Tipsters who help authorities make an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $350.
