Shalonna Marie Wadley Slapped with Multiple Charges Following Fatal Crash

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has disclosed that officers arrested a 36-year-old woman in connection with a February 27 crash that killed six-year-old LaBarron Wright.

The suspect is Shalonna Marie Wadley.

The young victim lived in the 700 Block of Bennock Mill Road.

Several other people were injured when the crash occurred after 6 p.m. on the 1000 block of Horseshoe Road off Mike Padgett Highway.

The victims may get advice from a Georgia car accident lawyer.

Wadley was arrested on May 11 and charged with a range of offenses. These include:

  • Causing homicide by vehicle
  • Driving under the influence
  • Reckless driving
  • Seatbelt violations
  • Driving too fast for conditions
  • Three counts of 2nd offense no safety child restraint
  • Four counts of DUI with passenger under 14 years old
  • Driving with a suspended or revoked license
  • Not having insurance coverage
  • Operating an unregistered vehicle
  • Failure to maintain lane

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office said Wadley was traveling west on Horeshore Road when she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times. The car then struck a tree and Wright was ejected.

He was taken to Augusta University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on the night of the crash.

Reports said there were nine other people in Wadley’s vehicle.

Their names and ages were not released by the authorities. However, based on Wadley’s charges, there may have been additional minors in the vehicle.

It is not known if everyone involved is related. However, the victims may be able to get compensation with help from a car accident lawyer.
