A man suspected of being involved in a shooting got arrested on Thursday morning, May 21, after crashing his vehicle during a police chase. The incident took place in Macon, Georgia, as confirmed in the accident reports.
The crash happened on the 4500 block of Pio Nono, near Cars R Us. It began when officers got dispatched to 218 Stevens Street, on reports of a shootout that left a 27-year-old Derrion Pringle with gunshot wounds in his leg and stomach.
Authorities described the shooter as 25-year-old Douglas Edwin Ingram, of Macon, who fled the scene in a silver 4-door Honda Accord. Deputies on the lookout for the described suspect spotted the vehicle at Northside Drive, at Elberta Road. They immediately followed in pursuit, as the suspect failed to pull over when prompted.
Ingram led officers in a chase through Elberta Road, onto Ga.247, and then continued to Broadway, cutting across a parking lot. He then took to the northbound lanes on Pio Nono where the car eventually crashed into a Ford Explorer outside the 4500 block. Officers said the suspect exceeded speeds of 90 mph during his flight.
Deputies arrested him and transported him to Houston Medical Center to be checked. A search of Ingram’s car unveiled a substantial amount of marijuana and two handguns.
The accident reports affirmed that the driver of the Explorer went unscathed.
The incident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
