Jameela Cunningham Fatally Injured in Decatur Hit-and-Run Crash

Authorities confirmed the death of a woman who died in a ghastly traffic collision involving two vehicles in Decatur, Georgia. The fatal occurrence took place at night on Monday, May 25, and calls for the involvement of a car accident lawyer.

The Macon County Coroner, Michael E. Day, divulged in a press release that the victim, Jameela Cunningham, 27, was a passenger in one of the vehicles. The two cars collided at about 9:24 p.m., in the area of North Jasper and East Condit Streets. Officers said it was a case of a hit-and-run.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both vehicles were crossing the intersection at the same time, in opposite lanes when the crash happened. The impact caused severe injuries to Cunningham.

First responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and found Cunningham and three other people with injuries. An ambulance quickly transported the critically wounded woman to the emergency ward of Decatur Memorial Hospital.

In his statement, Day revealed that the victim arrived at the hospital in full arrest, and doctors tried to save her. However, she eventually gave in to her injuries, and hospital staff pronounced her dead at about 10:05 p.m. She died from fatal blunt trauma suffered to her torso.

Meanwhile, the motorist operating the other vehicle involved abandoned his car and fled on foot, Decatur Police said. Three other people involved in the crash also sustained injuries of undisclosed nature.

Involving a car accident lawyer would enable the victims to secure adequate compensation for damages while bringing the faulted party to book.
