Motor vehicle accidents end a lot of lives daily in Illinois and the United States. Those who survive sometimes have wounds that alter the quality of their lives while others go unscathed. The cause of road collisions is complicated and mostly dependent on the person driving, their skill level, inexperience, and risk behaviors.

Younger drivers are more prone to exhibit reckless behaviors than older drivers due to the adrenaline rush they get from going too fast. Speed is one of the leading causes of traffic collisions, and it results from reckless and intoxicated driving. The latter results from using illegal drugs or consuming alcohol beyond the legal limit of .08%.

Running traffic lights and stops signs, and distracted driving often leads to crashes that sometimes end fatally for those involved. Others are tailgating, adverse weather conditions, manufacturer’s defect, adverse road conditions, wrong-way driving, animal sighting, drowsiness, and an underlying medical condition.
