A pedestrian who was struck by a motorcycle and killed in a collision on Saturday, September 26, has now been identified by the authorities as per the latest accident reports. The deceased was identified by the Peoria County Coroner’s Office as Allen Hulin, 49, of Peoria.
According to the details shared by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal incident took place on the Illinois Route 116, otherwise known as the West Plank Road. It happened at around midnight and was reported to the authorities at around 12:30 a.m.
Preliminary investigations show that Hulin had apparently wandered onto the road for unknown reasons. A motorcycle traveling westbound on the West Plank Road hit Hulin in the 7400 block. Hulin sustained critical injuries in the collision. These were likely blunt-force and severe head injuries according to the Coroner Jamie Harwood. He died from his injuries on the scene and was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m.
The motorcycle rider also sustained serious injuries in the crash. Once the paramedics reached the scene of the crash, he was rushed to a local hospital.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. The focus of the investigations, at this point, is to determine what caused Allen Hulin to be in the middle of the road at such a late hour. Preliminary investigations hint that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. However, toxicology tests are pending. Once the results from these tests arrive, authorities may announce a definite cause that contributed to the fatal crash.
